Failing at Love

“An act of love that fails is just as much a part
of the divine life as an act of love that succeeds,
for love is measured by its own fullness,

May I find the courage to love regardless of the risk

When I can’t predict how love will be received

May I find the compassion to receive love

In all its halting forms and messy structures

Without being unduly bound by its embrace

May I find the eyes to see love in all things

As I interact with all the created world around me

And as you reach out trembling arms toward me
